A note about my picture page

I'm writing this because my expression of dismay about the clearcut forests in British Columbia has generated some hate mail, mostly from people who accuse me of being "ignorant" of modern forest practices, and who seem to want to pick a fight with me about clearcutting. I'm not interested in arguing. I've read about the destructive soil erosion from clearcuts into salmon habitats, I've seen the vast differences between the delicate and carefully evolved ecosystem of old growth forests and the neatly planted rows of tree farms with no biodiversity, and I understand MacMillan Bloedel has even announced that it is phasing out its clearcutting operations because the damage they caused has engendered so much protest. I wrote what I did because I found the naked mountainsides in BC very upsetting, especially compared to the stunning beauty and fascinating ecology of the old growth forests.

So: please don't send me hate mail, or mail telling me how ignorant and uneducated I am, or mail saying you'll never visit my site again. I'll just delete it.
